The RIPE NCC is an independent, not-for-profit membership organisation that supports the infrastructure of the Internet. The most prominent activity of the RIPE NCC is to act as a Regional Internet Registry (RIR) providing Internet number resources and related services to a current membership base of around 9,200 members in over 75 countries. These members consist mainly of Internet Service Providers (ISPs), telecommunication organisations and large corporations located in Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia.The RIPE NCC also provides a range of technical and coordination services and supports the global Internet community by providing data, expertise and a neutral platform for the exchange of ideas.

In 2009 the JSC ‘Coordination Center for TLD RU/РФ’ and the Foundation for Internet Development (registry for .SU domain) jointly founded the Technical Center of Internet (TCI). The TCI performs support technical functions for main registries and registration systems of ccTLDs RU, .РФ and .SU. It also ensures effective and uninterrupted work of domain name system of Russian Internet segment and the whole Internet. As a key element and critical infrastructure of Russian Internet segment, the TCI with DNS node system it maintains is an independent entity which ensures equal access to the main registry and addressing system for the accredited registrars. Now the DNS network of the Technical Center of Internet contains 18 stations in nine Russian cities, Europe, Asia and the Americas.
